This wizard can only deal with users that have one active work pattern, and this user has 2 patterns.

You may see this error when a user has more than one active work pattern. The system only allows one active pattern at a time, which usually means the user’s work layers overlap.

📌 Note: You need HR Admin permissions to update work layers and working patterns.

New users

If the user is new, you can reset their work layers and apply a clean pattern.

  1. Click HR Admin, then click Users.

  2. Click Change user work layers.

  3. Find the user, then click the Layer Array field.

  4. Enter a standard value (for example 1,3).

  5. Press Enter, then click Save.

After you reset the layer:

  • Run the correct working pattern wizard.

  • Apply the correct pattern for the user.

Existing users

If the user has existing history, review and correct their work layers carefully.

Check assigned layers

  1. Click HR Admin, then click Users.

  2. Click Change user work layers.

  3. Find the user, then note the Layer Array values.

To check what each layer represents:

  • Click HR Admin, then click View default work layers.

  • Or click View or create your own custom work layers.

Fix overlapping patterns

Check the start and end dates for each layer:

  • Ensure patterns don’t overlap.

  • Ensure one pattern ends before the next begins.

Example:

  • One pattern ends on 25 July 2025.

  • The next pattern starts on 26 July 2025.

To fix issues:

  • Update the start or end dates to remove overlap.

  • Or remove any incorrect layer from the user.

Click Save after you make changes.

Run the working pattern wizard

After you correct the layers:

  • Run Change work pattern wizard for daily workers.

  • Or run Change hours wizard for hourly workers.

The wizard will apply a new pattern correctly without duplication.

Understand the cause

This issue usually happens when:

  • Someone updates the layer array manually.

  • The system doesn’t apply end dates automatically.

Using the wizard ensures:

  • Only one active pattern exists at a time.

  • The system applies correct start and end dates.
