A user may not be able to book an absence type due to visibility settings, permissions, locale rules, or configuration issues. These checks help identify and resolve the problem.
📌 Note: You’ll need HR Admin permissions to complete these steps.
Check locale rules
Locale rules can prevent certain absence types from being available. To check this, follow the steps below.
Click HR Admin, then click Setup.
Click Locale Rules, then click Enable editing of locale rules.
Check for any red crosses.
Where required, click the red cross to change it to a green tick.
Check absence type visibility
To ensure the absence type is visible and available to users, follow the steps below.
Click HR Admin, then click Setup.
Click Types, then check Display? is set to 1.
Confirm the user’s role is included in Update rights.
Check update rights
A user must have permission to request the absence type. To check this, follow the steps below.
Click HR Admin, then click Setup.
Click Types, then, for the absence type, click Update rights.
Check the relevant role is selected.
📌 Note: Categories usually inherit rights from their parent type.
To check category-specific rights, follow the steps below.
Click HR Admin, then click Setup.
Click Categories, then check the Update rights column.
If blank, the category inherits from the type.
Check hourly settings for miscellaneous leave
Miscellaneous absence categories can’t be booked in hours.
Click HR Admin, then click Setup.
Click Types, then scroll to the right.
For the Miscellaneous type, check Hourly Worker?.
If required, set this to 0, then click Save.
Check account validation
To check the user’s account validation, follow the steps below.
Click My Admin, then select View another user.
Search for and select the user.
Click System, then set Account validation to Yes.
Click Submit changes.
Additional guidance
HR Managers don’t need to be included in update rights, as they can update calendars directly using HR access.
If users in a specific location are affected, check Scope and Locale Rules for location-based restrictions.
