If you need to add a new type of leave, you can create an absence type with its own button, colour, and settings. This allows users to book and manage different kinds of absence clearly.
📌 Note: You need HR Admin permissions to create and manage absence types and categories.
Create a new absence type
Click HR Admin, then click Setup.
Click Types, then click Insert.
Scroll to the bottom to find the new record.
Enter a unique value in Type Index, then press Enter.
Enter a name in Name, then press Enter.
Enter a short name in Short Name.
Set Display? to 1.
Enter a hex code in the Colour field, then press Enter.
Update any additional fields as needed.
Click Save.
Configure additional settings
You can update further fields depending on your requirements:
Class Index and Key Type if the type includes categories.
Hourly Worker? if the type supports hourly booking.
Other fields, depending on how you want the type to behave.

Fix type not visible
If the new absence type doesn’t appear:
Click HR Admin, then click Setup.
Click Locale Rules.
Click Enable editing of locale rules.
Ensure the new absence type is selected.
Remove an absence category
To stop users from booking a category:
Click HR Admin, then click Setup.
Click Categories.
Find the category.
Set Active to No.
Click Save.
